Biography

Dr. Aguirre is the Associate Director of the Penn Center for Neuroscience and Society, Associate Professor of Neurology and Assistant Director of the Neurology Residency Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a neurologist and cognitive neuroscientist whose clinical and research work concerns the organization of the brain for mental operations, in particular visual ability. His research focus includes methodological development and application of imaging techniques. Using functional MRI, he studies how neurons are normally arranged to represent and store the appearanceof people, places, and things. He has also written and lectured widely on the uses and misuses of brain imaging in legal and other contexts.
